Working on chapter 5 part 2

So looks like chapter 5 part 1 is stable, letting me focus on the next section of content.  The second part of chapter 5 will be covering the next 3 days in Corsix.

The nightly events will have the player move into a more comfortable abode and have a series of visitors.  First night is still up in the air for who that is, there's currently a Patreon poll going on to determine who gets to be your 'conjugal visitor'.  Then the Namuhists will make an appearance followed by an old friend.

The day quests will most likely be Angelica, Naitay, Rhea/Alena, Joan and probably 1-2 more yet to be determined.  As usual there will be a non-sexual route for all of your slaves to get your votes.  A few teasers in the usual places (Patreon, Blog and Forums).

I'm also considering changing the release schedule.  Currently it's split.  Patrons get the new content when it's ready and then the public gets it near the end of the month.  Which is kind of a pain to maintain from my end and gives me a week or two where there's minimal incentive to to sign up and support development.  I might just do both the rolls on the same day.  Patrons get the newest content and at the same time the public gets the previous month Patreon release.  It will add a week or so for the next public release but then you'll be getting new content every month, same as the current schedule.  Let me know what you think!

And of course, teasers!

  1. Have to wait longer for the free release? nooooooo :D. Seriously though, I think its' fair since unlike many many RPG Maker Patreon developers you consistently release every month and each release is gold.

    1. Pretty much this. As long as releases are consistent it'd be fine. The problem would happen if for some release the patreon release gets delayed for a little too long, but I imagine you'd have a plan if that happens.

    2. Thanks for the confidence. And yes, I do have a plan if it's looking like the Patron version will be delayed. It mostly involves 15 hour work days :)

  2. No worry here either, that said, how much of more to do is the current setting ?

    Upload to another host ?
    Post the link here ?

Not sure, might miss something, still, you have the hand, and so, decision is yours.

    1. More to do with promoting and keeping things ordered well in my own head :)

    2. Mental then ?

Given tools we have currently, I have quite some extensions.. From a basic (hm, quite not so) paper notebook (guess the next or close will be connected using bt4+ as to have these data more easily processed (so far I need to scan then ocr them If willing to use them). Still, the basis was as to more fixation of memory items, like people met, locations, specifics food, etc.

      Then, numeric tools, scripts etc.
A smartphone who can be linked to a PC agenda is quite an extensiv option (Most of the daily repetitiv task are now handled this way).

Then, their are quite some others options/tools to be considered, bot as to cost/access/use and time.

      No surprise I guess.

Netvibes for example, as to track over 100 rss, along with an update scanner on a browser (of course, having some heavy/unlimited data plan his quite required).

Then it has to be considered over one need/life setting, but still, when it is a matter of mental = options.

  3. I think having the Patreon and free releases at the same time would definitely make things easier on you. For one, 3 weeks seems like a strange and arbitrary time frame. It seems like most content creators (at least the ones I've run across) choose either 1 week, 2 weeks, or 1 month separating the two types of content.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head that did the simultaneous releases like your proposal is the debacle of Breeding Season, but you've been much more consistent with your releases Ker so I think people could get behind a simultaneous release, with the free version being a release behind, so to speak.

Truth be told it doesn't much matter to me though, as I'll probably be signing up to Patreon in the next month or two. Been holding off while I convince myself the releases will continue (been burned by other devs, so I wait for a track record lol).

    1. The timing of the public release was tied into Patreon's earlier setup. Since pledges used to only be processed on the first of each month, if you signed up a few days after the 1st you wouldn't actually become a patron until the following month. Which led to frustrated people asking 'Where's my download!' and less income for me. Since they've moved to a pay-on-pledge model the old release schedule doesn't make any sense from my perspective.

And I'd love your support of course! Lots of great stuff coming down the pipeline!

And a big reason why I push so hard for monthly release is to create confidence in my patrons. A few have suggested just releasing whenever large chunks are done but I think it's better to deliver on every pledge, every month.

    2. Consistent 15 hour days are not the way to deal with taking on too much at once. Just saying. I know your Patreon $$$ is barely enough to support yourself (though getting better) and I admire your dedication, but its' not good for your health in the long run.

    3. Heh, I don't do it consistently. Only if it's past the 5th and the next release isn't ready yet. And that serves as motivation for the rest of the month to keep up the hard work.

    4. Yeah, it's definitely good to be able to create that confidence. Right now I'm backing Cypress Zeta, NoMoshing and Sierra Lee because they've built a track record of consistent releases. I admit I was leery here after Harem's hiatus, so I've probably waited longer than I normally would to see that this was going to continue.

I'm pretty much there though. And aside from that, version 2 has been MUCH better than version 1 in my opinion. I really like the additional sidequests that fill in some of the harems' backstory. In terms of actual gameplay, Harem probably falls behind some of its contemporaries, but I think the story is better than most.

  4. Yes + the maps is quite more efficient + interesting than quite some others, knowing that as said, some more details (Wrote about the items in exploration mode (like that jewelry, quite a nice touch) with maps & others (more books for example, adding to lore that way.

That said, like it was done with harpy where it is depicted that we do not have climbing equipment (duh !!), more of them (like boulder locking area, some requiring speaking to a npc as to get them cleaned, adding that way (again) to the immersion.

Options are numerous, and so, it will have to be seen, as said, mostly as to community input handling.

  5. As a non-patron, I'm totally fine with the release being at the same time getting last month's content.

  6. Dunno where to put this again (I'm the guy who made the improvement request for Rhea a couple of months back), but would it be possible for us to be able to buy Fiona's unimproved items after she joins the Harem? It's just that for some reason, the Improved Bloodwood Amulet has different stats than the normal variant.

The original amulet increases Att and Mag, while the Improved increases Att and Def at higher increments. The problem is the original amulet is one of the only two Magic boost accessories in the game, and is the only one that you can buy. It's incredibly useful for the mage characters, but it gets locked out once Fiona joins the Harem.

Is it possible to reactivate the ability to buy the unimproved variants of her enchanted items from her, so we can get access to that one again? Failing that, is it possible for us to get a quest for her to start making a new accessory that is magic based? Just kinda sad that the mages don't really have an ideal accessory outside that one, and we lose access to it very easily if we didn't remember to get multiple copies before she joins the Harem.
